About the Author

Louis Spetrino is a passionate teacher, filmmaker, and father of five, with a lifelong connection to Connecticut. A proud resident of the state, Louis earned his bachelor’s degree in Film from the University of Hartford, where he honed his craft and deepened his love for storytelling.

From an early age, Louis was captivated by the power of stories, writing his first script at just 10 years old. This early creative spark fueled his career as a writer and filmmaker, where he has written and directed several short films and feature-length movies. Over the years, his passion for storytelling has extended into his personal life, where he has shared his love for films and creative expression with his children.

As a father, Louis cherishes spending quality time with his five kids. Whether it’s fishing, playing board games, or crafting videos and stories together, he finds joy in fostering their creativity and imagination. His dedication to storytelling has taken on a new dimension with the creation of the Finley the Goblin series, a children's picture book collection inspired by bedtime tales he created for his three older boys.

The character of Finley, a determined goblin with brittle bones—much like Louis' eldest son—faces challenges that mirror the real-life obstacles his own children have overcome. Through Finley’s adventures, Louis hopes to instill resilience, determination, and the power of imagination in young readers, inspiring them to face their own challenges with courage and creativity.

Louis is excited to share his stories with the world and looks forward to publishing the Finley the Goblin books, hoping to touch the hearts of children everywhere and encourage them to dream big, no matter the obstacles in their way
